Antwerp has its fair heyday during the annual Sinksenfoor (Whitsun Fair). A loyal stallholder for decades has been Lacquemant, waffle and Dutch doughnut baker Désiré De Lille. It also has a fixed location (tearoom and take-out counter) in the centre of Antwerp. Entrepreneur Marc Stoffels is the grandson of Désiré Smidts who designed the first Lacquemant in Lille. Marc rightly turned it into an ‘Antwerp delicacy’, which is also very popular at Walloon fairs.

Now she has a stall of her own at the fair. […] “We don’t consider each other competitors; we are one big family. We help each other whenever and wherever we can”.
